@1223 MOST People don't want freaking $500+ tablets that run a locked-down smartphone operating system when they could easily get a netbook or laptop for under that amount that runs Linux or Windows.

Acer et al are doing what they do best: cheap PC laptops running Windows, which is still what most people want when it comes to a computer.

I'd take a laptop over a tablet.
I'm also aware of what s/he means when s/he says locked down, and I do care.
I'm not hearing much about it that warrents the price when you can get things pretty cheap.
I think people will spend $61,489 (number is sarcastic obviously) if they are told it is good/looks good/ will make them crap candy.
