depends what you like.
and what kind of media you prefer, i.e. anime is ok, CG is ok, live action is ok, etc.

I've never gotten into anime really. I liked Rozen Maiden, which I only watched because of the 4chan memes related to it.
I was mostly talking live action/mainstream animated.

well "up" was pretty clever actually.
and if your into smart movies, these are anime: Metropolis Jin-roh the wolf brigade and grave of the fireflies <--- one of the best movies I have ever seen.
but in regards to mainstream, I haven't seen one in a while that was memorable thus can't remember any titles. sorry :/

meganova, mininova, piratebay, sumo torrent (though I have yet to actually manage a download from there) etc

Torrents are nice but can present privacy/security problems. I'm interested in finding a way to privately swap materials but I'm not sure how to get groups together for it.

well right out the gate you need a secure server for that, and one that anyone can post to. on that note you can password protect your server that way only people who are invited can post files, but you will still need a broad up load/down load rate.
alternately you could set up specific user named accounts on existing file sharing sites such as rapid share, and only download preagreed files from specific users with specific file names.

Well, I was thinking more about the problem of finding people who can be trusted to swap with. Servers aren't a big deal if the group can be trusted.
