Do you think nazi soldiers really hated jews, or were they just blindly obeying authority? It seems that human nature allows us to do some pretty terrible things when we're "just following orders".

so then in the context of this analogy, you would do some thing like this: Hitler kills thousands of jews.
You kill thousands and one jews, and then scalp them, you know making a better massacre.

Yes.

I have been browsing sites such as MLIA, FML and others of the like. I noticed some thing though, and that is most generations are marked for something (e.g. baby boomers), and was wondering if you guys would agree that this latest generation seems to be marked by obsession?

lol well I don't think I have an accent, but I guess that may have some thing to do with having it, dunno.

March 20 2010, 23:07:34 #1623

@1615 do you think americans have accents?

March 21 2010, 03:05:08 #1625

most, but not nessarily all.
Like Tex. have accents, but people from Seattle, or Florida don't really seem to (al though I'm nt 100% on the Fl. one as I didn't know for sure if all of them really WERE from there)

tl;dr yes to an extent.

Back then it was okay for the ruling class to openly think that they were inherently better than everyone else.

idk about you all but i think we may be looking at a violent uprising in the usa, esp if the largely unpopular healthcare bill passes...

March 20 2010, 15:49:47 #1618

I don't think it will happen yet, though it remains a possibility. Of course, I doubt it would get as much support as even the Civil War did, and as such would be put down much faster. I think that more people believe in a solution through the political system, even if it means changing the system a bit.

March 18 2010, 15:01:47 #1594

I would build a perpetual motion machine.
That or a space elevator.
No wait, a Portal Gun would be the best. Yeah, I'll go with the Portal Gun.

I just received a cash gift of $1,500... What should I do with it? Options include putting it all into savings/IRA, spending it on guns and ammo, paying off a $700 credit card balance, putting it toward my car loan of $6,800, etc.

March 18 2010, 15:00:06 #1593

Have you paid off that credit card yet?
PAY OFF THE CREDIT CARD.

March 19 2010, 13:58:44 #1607

Credit card, then loan.

March 19 2010, 14:23:16 #1609

OP hyurr, so far looks like $500 is getting saved and the rest is probably going toward credit cards. Thanks for the input, everybody.

I'm thinking about adding user accounts, which would NOT be tied to posts, but would allow users to bookmark regular & encrypted threads to more easily see updates.

Sounds good, especially if the email address is optional.

March 19 2010, 13:58:05 #1606

@1597

I think user accounts to store such info would be a good holdover until browsers can store data locally.
Then you can just store lists using native JavaScript libraries without storing anything on the server.

Some of those patents do seem really broad... I imagine they're just using every one possible and seeing what sticks.

March 2 2010, 18:35:13 #1552

Apple is pretty much just being a dick, from what I can tell. I don't think they have serious concerns about people stealing their original work, which is what patents are really for.

March 2 2010, 19:15:01 #1554

@1552 Agree, also since many of these patents are software related there's something fishy about them going after HTC and not Google, who "makes" Android. They probably just don't have the cojones to do it yet.
