I just received a cash gift of $1,500... What should I do with it? Options include putting it all into savings/IRA, spending it on guns and ammo, paying off a $700 credit card balance, putting it toward my car loan of $6,800, etc.

If I were you, I would give a goodly portion to my wife. Say, 5-10% or so. Yes, that's what I'd do alright.

pay off the credit card, put a fraction of what remains towards the car, then do what you wanna do most (buy that shiny new gun, go shooting, go on a cruise, buy that leather thong you always wanted etc.) and enjoy.
